Glossary — Wearable Safety Terms

50 terms used in the wearable safety, family-tech, and SEO/AI spaces, explained plainly for caregivers, founders, and writers. Free to cite.

Accelerometer

A sensor in most wearables that measures acceleration along three axes. Used for fall detection (sudden free-fall + impact patterns), step counting, and activity recognition.

AI safety platform

A software system that analyses sensor data from wearables to detect potential emergencies and alert designated contacts. AlvoTriX is one example.

Allostatic load

The cumulative biological cost of chronic stress on the body. Tracked in AlvoTriX Special Needs module via HRV and other autonomic signals.

Anchor text

The clickable text in a hyperlink. Affects how search engines understand the linked page.

BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy)

A wireless protocol used by most modern wearables to communicate with smartphones. Standard for heart-rate and accelerometer profiles.

BLE GATT

Generic Attribute Profile — the standardized way BLE devices expose data (e.g. heart rate, battery level) so apps can read them universally.

Brand SERP

The search engine results page that appears when someone searches your brand name. Important for reputation and indexing visibility.

Bring-your-own-wearable (BYOW)

The model where a safety platform works with whatever wearable the user already owns, rather than requiring proprietary hardware.

Caregiver dashboard

A web or mobile interface that lets family members or caregivers see real-time data, alerts, and trends from the wearer.

Cell broadcast

A way of sending messages to all mobile phones in a geographic area. Different from SMS — used for emergency alerts in some countries.

Cellular SMS path

The technical route by which an SMS leaves the phone via the mobile carrier network. Independent of Wi-Fi / internet — what AlvoTriX uses for critical alerts.

Click-through rate (CTR)

The percentage of people who see a search listing and click on it. Affected by meta title and description quality.

Companies House (UK)

The UK government registry of incorporated companies. Rolaxit Innovation LTD (AlvoTriX) is registered there with #15822417.

Consent Mode v2

Google's framework for sending privacy-respecting analytics signals even when users decline cookies. Required by Google for EU advertisers since March 2024.

Dofollow link

A hyperlink that passes "authority" to the linked page for SEO purposes. Opposite of nofollow.

Domain Authority (DA)

A score from 1 to 100 estimating how well a website will rank in search engines. Built by Moz. Higher = better expected ranking.

Emergency contact

A pre-configured phone number that receives alerts from the wearable safety system when an event is detected.

Fall detection

The process of automatically identifying when a person has fallen, typically using accelerometer data and gyroscope. Modern systems also confirm with immobility detection.

Free-fall window

The brief moment during a fall when a sensor experiences near-zero acceleration before impact. A key marker for accurate fall detection algorithms.

GDPR

General Data Protection Regulation. EU law governing personal data processing. AlvoTriX is GDPR + UK GDPR compliant.

Geofence

A virtual boundary around a real-world geographic area. Wearable geofence alerts trigger when the wearer enters or leaves the zone.

GPS (Global Positioning System)

Satellite navigation used by wearables with a built-in GPS chip. Allows location to be embedded in safety alerts.

Health Connect

A Google API for Android that lets apps share health data securely. Required for many third-party apps to access wearable sensor streams.

Heart rate variability (HRV)

The variation in time between consecutive heartbeats. A marker of autonomic nervous system balance — higher generally indicates recovered, lower indicates stressed.

Immobility confirmation

A post-fall detection step where the algorithm waits a few seconds to confirm the person has not moved before triggering an alert. Reduces false positives.

IndexNow

A protocol supported by Bing and Yandex for instantly notifying search engines about content updates. Faster than waiting for crawl.

JSON-LD

JavaScript Object Notation for Linked Data. A way to embed structured data (schema.org) in HTML pages so search engines can read it.

Linkable asset

Content (a guide, calculator, dataset, etc.) so valuable that other sites link to it naturally, generating backlinks.

Long-tail keyword

A search query with low volume but specific intent (e.g. "best fall detector for elderly father in Romania" vs. "fall detector"). Easier to rank for.

Manual action (Google)

A penalty applied by Google's human reviewers when a site violates guidelines. Reduces or removes search visibility.

Meta description

The HTML snippet (140-160 chars) that appears under the page title in search results. Encourages click-through.

Meta title

The HTML tag content shown as the clickable link in search results. Should be 50-60 characters.</p></div><div class="box gloss-item"><h3 style="margin-top:0">Multi-Risk Score (MRS)</h3><p style="margin-bottom:0">AlvoTriX's algorithm that combines multiple physiological signals (HRV, stimming intensity, allostatic load) to predict behavioral escalations in special-needs wearers.</p></div><div class="box gloss-item"><h3 style="margin-top:0">Nofollow link</h3><p style="margin-bottom:0">A hyperlink with the rel="nofollow" attribute, which signals that the linker does not endorse the destination.
